KTH: Postdoc in AI and digital modelling of power systems
This is a postdoc at KTH's School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, in the Division of Electric Power and Energy Systems. It sits in a project that is building a national digital twin of the Swedish power system. The work covers AI, software and data modelling for analysing, optimising and controlling power systems, together with industry and grid operators. The position runs for at most three years.
What you'll do
- Build a development environment with databases and computing platforms for developing and training AI models for power system applications
- Carry out KTH's own tasks in the project, including method and software development, reporting and documentation
- Develop methods and supporting software for analysis, modelling, optimisation and control of electric power systems from a system perspective
- Publish the results scientifically and present them to the project partners
- Follow developments in the field and supervise students on occasion
Who can apply
- A doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign degree, in place by the time the employment decision is made
- The PhD must be in electric power engineering or a closely related field, focused on modelling, machine learning or optimisation at power-system level
- Documented experience of software development for analysing large datasets, for example in Python or Julia
- Good spoken and written command of both Swedish and English
- Preferred: a PhD obtained within the last three years, publications, and knowledge of open-source tools such as pandapower, PowerSystemBlocks, Grid2Op or CIM-based tools
- Preferred: experience with data and compute platforms, power-system data-exchange standards such as CIM, OpenADR or OCPP, and industry collaboration
How to apply
Apply through KTH's recruitment system before midnight CET on 31 October 2026. Include a CV, copies of diplomas and grades (translated into English or Swedish if needed), and a brief account of your research interests of at most two pages.
