Commonwealth Fusion Systems: Intern - Mechanical Engineer - Summer 2027

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is building fusion power plants. This is a 13–18 week mechanical engineering internship on site in Milpitas. Interns are placed into projects that fit the team's current needs.

What you'll do

• Do CAD modelling, detail drafting and engineering calculations to validate mechanical hardware
• Fabricate, assemble and test hardware in the shop or lab
• Organise CAD models and component libraries
• Help with shop and lab housekeeping and setup

Who can apply

• Currently enrolled student, bachelor's to PhD
• Pursuing an engineering degree in mechanical, aerospace, mechatronics, manufacturing or a related field
• Authorised to work in the United States for any employer
• Responsible for own transport and housing
